Jamshedpur, Feb 28: The Graduate School College for Women, Sakchi, celebrated National Science Day 2025 on Friday. The celebration began with the lighting of the lamp by the teachers of the science faculty, accompanied by a deep jyoti mantra sung by second-semester chemistry student Shreya Ghosh.

Senior faculty of Botany, officiating as Prof-in-charge today, Prof. Doris Das was the chief guest on this occasion. She was honoured on this occasion with a sapling and memento by Dr. Banashree Dey and Dr. Sulekha Kumari. A self-composed poem in honour of the precious 43 years of service of Prof Doris Das was recited by Dr. Banashree Dey.

The event of Science Day 2025 having the theme of “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for VIKSIT BHARAT” began with a speech by Shagufa Perween (B.Ed. Sem 1) on why National Science Day is celebrated and its importance.

This was followed by a series of speeches by students on the contributions of 8 eminent Indian women scientists, such as Dr. Asima Chatterjee, Dr. Bibha Chowdhury, Dr. Tessy Thomas, Dr. Rohini Godbole, and Dr. N. Kalaiselvi. An insight on Artificial Intelligence was also delivered by chemistry student Nayela Enam.

The event also featured a PowerPoint presentation by Dr. Arundhati Dey of Chemistry department on “Mind and Modern Problems,” along with an interactive brain game session conducted by Anjali Mahato and Sushmita (B.Ed. Sem 1).

As part of the ceremony, certificates were distributed to students who had excelled in the previous year’s Association of Chemistry Teachers, CONTECH exam, to Akhila Nandan, Nayela Enam, Sanchita Acharjee, Dilkash, Rimisha Barua, Shreya Ghosh etc.

The program was conducted by Sem 4 zoology student Richa Ojha. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Arundhati Dey followed by the national anthem.

The program also marked the presence of Prof. Pratima Sinha, Prof. Farzana,Dr. Sangita , Dr. Kumari Anamika,Dr. Poonam, Prof. Dipti, Dr. Jyoti, Dr. Priti, Dr. Indu, Dr. Nupur, Dr. Sweta, Dr. Menka ,Dr. Rakesh, and Dr. Suniti.
