Daltonganj, March 4: A murder convict identified as Sabir Ansari, 34, was found hanging in the bathroom of the Central Jail in Daltonganj today.
When rushed to the MMCH, the doctor there in the hospital declared him brought dead.
Central Jail Superintendent Bhagirath Karjee has confirmed the death by suicide of the convict. He was brought to the Central Jail here in February 2023 from the Garhwa District Jail, added Karjee.

Medical Superintendent of MMCH Dr Dharmendra Kumar said, “This jail man was brought dead to the MMCH. Our team pronounced it brought dead by 7.20 am today.”
A board of four doctors, namely Vijay Kumar Singh, R K Ranjan, Rohit Pandey and Uday was notified by the Medical Superintendent, Dr Dharmendra Kumar, for the post-mortem.
The convict was the ward in charge of A2 ward in the Central Jail as well.
According to the Central Jail Superintendent Bhagirath Karjee, the man had no health issue.
How and why he died by suicide is enigmatic.
