Ranchi, March 5: Judicial Commissioner Diwakar Pandey highlighted the importance of expediting pending railway cases, emphasizing that Plea Bargaining Special Camps play a crucial role in swift justice.

Speaking at a special camp organized under the District Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, he assured that such camps will continue in the future to facilitate the quick resolution of cases.

95 Cases Resolved, ₹7.8 Lakh Collected in Compensation

During the camp, 95 out of 284 pending cases were settled, reducing the Railway Court’s backlog to 189 cases. One of the key cases resolved was Crime Case No. 271/21 (RPF Hatia), where Asheshwar Kumar Mehta, Senior Section Engineer (Signal), South Eastern Railway, Ranchi, pleaded guilty under Sections 175 and 154 of the Railway Act. Railway Judicial Magistrate Bijay Kumar Yadav ordered him to pay ₹15,000 as compensation to the Railways and granted him the benefit of Section 12 probation.

Additionally, the Railway Department received ₹7,80,000 in damages and compensation on the spot, further emphasizing the efficiency of the plea bargaining process.
