THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, April 4: The Budget Session of Parliament, which commenced on January 31, 2025, has officially ended with both Houses adjourning sine die. The next session, the Monsoon Session, is expected to reconvene at a later date, though the official schedule is yet to be announced.

One of the major highlights of this session was the passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025, which was approved by Parliament in the early hours of Friday following an intense and prolonged debate.

In total, 16 bills were passed, including the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, while 10 new government bills were introduced during the session.

The Lok Sabha, which held 26 sittings since January 31, recorded a productivity rate of approximately 118 percent. Speaker Om Birla, in his closing remarks, noted that this marked the conclusion of the fourth session of the 18th Lok Sabha.

In the Rajya Sabha, Vice-President and Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar lauded members for their “active participation and valuable contributions.” The upper house functioned for 159 hours, achieving an exceptional productivity rate of 119 percent.

The longest-ever sitting in Rajya Sabha’s history occurred on April 3, extending from 11 AM until 4:02 AM the next day. Additionally, a record 49 private members’ bills were introduced.

As Parliament wraps up a highly productive session, attention now shifts to the upcoming Monsoon Session, which is expected to build upon the legislative momentum established during this term.
