Daltonganj, April 15: Land angle appears to be the prime cause behind the removal of the statue of Baba Saheb Ambedkar at Kharaarpar under the Hussainabad police station limits in Palamu.

The bust size statue of Baba Saheb Ambedkar was installed on Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday. It was found removed today Tuesday.

The removal of the statue was without any dismantling or disfigurement. The bust-size statue about two feet high was just dislodged from the place where it was installed.

The officer in charge of the Hussainabad police station Sonu Kumar Choudhury has confirmed the removal of the statue of Baba Saheb Ambedkar without any sign of disgrace, dismantling or disfigurement. The statue was just taken off the platform built for it.

The police officer said an investigation has begun and the miscreants will be caught.

Mischief Suspected, Probe Initiated

It’s a mischief with evil intent. First to vitiate the social atmosphere. Two, to create a chasm between those who adore Baba Saheb Ambedkar and those who remain unattached to him. Three who removed it? The outsider or the insider. The removal of the statue may be the handiwork of either of the two as there is a remote chance of any third player there.

The publicity angle is there. Some disgruntled politicians are trying to fan this episode to hog the limelight.

However, the Hussainabad police and the CO have acted swiftly and tactfully. There was a road jam which was lifted by the joint effort of the officer in charge Sonu Kumar Choudhury and the CO Pankaj Kumar.

The statue was installed without any intimation to the local police and the civil administration. Thus the whole episode of the installation of the statue comes under the cloud.

Govt Land Under Illegal Occupation

Additional Collector Kundan Kumar said, “Our CO Hussainabad has informed that khata number 130 plot number 704 is Anabad Jharkhand Sarkar Ki Zameen (Jharkhand government land).”

Some families there have made ‘awaidh dakhal kabza’ (illegal possession) of the land. The Hal Survey declares this land as Anabad Jharkhand Sarkar Ki Zameen where it is under awaidh dakhal kabza of some families, reiterated the Additional Collector Kundan Kumar.

MLA Alleges Caste-Based Provocation

The local RJD MLA Sanjay Kumar Singh Yadav told this correspondent that some people have joined hands together to create a nuisance on the line of caste. These people just want to fracture peace and harmony. He said people understand the design of such vested interests.

The MLA Sanjay Kumar Singh Yadav further said, “It’s time that CO Hussainabad should work professionally instead of having a tilt towards someone. The CO must act neutral and fair.”

Additional Collector Kundan Kumar said, “CO has been directed to verify the land records. Again how a chunk of the land is under awaidh dakhal kabza of some families must be thoroughly probed and action taken against such illegal and unlawful possession of land.”
