New Delhi, April 22: In a shocking attack targeting tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, one person has been killed, and twelve others injured. The incident occurred around on Tuesday afternoon, when a group of terrorists opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran meadow area.
Security forces quickly cordoned off the area, and the Resistance Front, a local affiliate of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, later claimed responsibility for the attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after being briefed on the incident, spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and directed him to take appropriate action. He also asked Amit Shah to visit the site of the attack.

Following the conversation, Amit Shah convened a high-level meeting to assess the situation, with key officials from the Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police joining in, either in person or virtually.
Pahalgam, a popular destination for tourists, has been a peaceful area, but this incident has raised security concerns.

Tourism in Pahalgam has been on the rise since the March snowfall, with hundreds of visitors flocking to the region. Despite being a region with relatively low terrorism risk, this attack marks an alarming escalation.
