Ranchi, April 22, 2025: In a significant development, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office of Jharkhand has confirmed that no appeals related to voter list revisions are pending at the District Election Officer (DEO) or CEO office level in the state. This indicates a high level of satisfaction among voters regarding the accuracy of the voter list.

As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, each polling station is assigned a Booth Level Officer (BLO), and every political party is granted the right to appoint a Booth Level Agent (BLA) at each booth.

The process for voter registration includes Form 6 for adding new voters, Form 7 for removing names from the list, and Form 8 for making corrections or changes in the voter list. Once the forms are submitted, BLOs verify the information, and the final decision for modifications is made by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
Under Section 24 (k) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, if any individual has objections to the decision made by the ERO, they can file an appeal with the District Election Officer (DEO), followed by a second appeal with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) if required.
In Jharkhand, approximately 2.62 crore electors are registered. Over 29,000 Booth Level Officers have been actively involved in the special brief revision programs across the state, visiting homes to verify registered voters and register new voters. During these revisions, political parties’ appointed Booth Level Agents also contributed by verifying the lists at the grassroots level.
