Daltonganj, April 26: Shock, grief and anger which were in profusion here in Palamu in the wake of the terror strike at Pahalgam, have now begun to subside with anger still raw and persisting against the perpetrators and sponsors of the terror.

There was none here in Palamu whose heart didn’t wrench in grief over the loss of the innocent lives of the tourists at Pahalgam.

Palamu district, which had itself bled enormously following the left wing extremism in the past, had never shed tears then, but the Pahalgam terror tragedy made Palamu and its people all tearful for those whom none here had seen or found around.

Slogans, candle march etc were all seen in the days of the mourning here.

Police Vigilance on Social Media

However, police in Palamu continue to keep their hawk eyes on social media. It is determined to neutralise any enflamed passion and whipping up of false sentiments.

The seriousness of the police in regard to the transit of texts, contents, photos, videos etc digitally could be felt when around 10.45 night recently SP Reeshma Ramesan in the official what’s app group for media loaded the advice cum warning to all concerned to be wise and sensible in uploading or forwarding any text, content, video etc in the backdrop of the Pahalgam terror strike as any objectionable content or lapse of any kind is set to make the person concerned face the harshest of the music.

Officer in charge of the town police station Deobrat Poddar, today said, “Our SP mam has directed us to be highly vigilant about social media stuff and content. Aberration of any kind, wilful, deliberate or in ignorance, is not acceptable at all under any circumstances.”

Public Support for India’s Tough Stand on Pakistan

Shock and grief have subsided because of the tough stand taken by India against Pakistan like suspension of Indus Waters Treaty, downsizing the Pakistan embassy, declaration of a couple of Pakistan embassy officers as persona non grata and leave India order to Pakistani nationals including those Pakistani nationals here in India who were on medical visas too.

Such stringent actions of India have won the chord with the common people here who wanted salutary lessons to be given to the sponsors of terrorism.

Monitoring of Foreign Nationals

SP Reeshma Ramesan told the Jharkhand Story correspondent, “There is no issue of the foreign national here in Palamu. Neither any Pakistani nor Bangladeshi.”

“I have inquired about the status of any arrival of the foreign national from our Foreign Section and it says there is no footfall of any foreign national in the recent past”, Reeshma Ramesan reiterated.

The Foreign Section in the office of the SP is quite serious about the foreign national as here there is no Foreigner Registration Office (FRO).

Pakistani nationals here in India on medical visas have their visas valid here in India till April 29. Visas of other categories of Pakistani nationals stand revoked from April 27. All Pakistani nationals are to leave India before the expiry of the deadline as set by the government of India.
