Jamshedpur, May 19: In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, Jamshedpur police arrested two men in possession of illegal firearms during a high-alert raid at the LIC Ground area of Kadma on Sunday. The suspects were allegedly planning a serious criminal act when they were apprehended.

Acting on confidential intelligence received around 11.30 am, a special team formed under the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and supervised by City SP  swiftly moved into action.

The team, led by Sub-Inspector Alok Kumar Dubey, Officer-in-Charge of Kadma Police Station, surrounded the suspects and caught them red-handed despite an attempted escape.

Police recovered two country-made pistols, three live cartridges, two iPhones, and 14 other mobile phones from their possession.

Upon interrogation, Upendra Singh confessed that the firearm was handed over to him by Ankur Singh, a repeat offender recently released from jail.

Ankur was reportedly attempting to reestablish his criminal gang in Jamshedpur. He has a past record under Sonari P.S. Case No. 111/22, which includes charges of murder and conspiracy (Sections 302/120(B)/34 IPC) and violations of the Arms Act.

A new case has been filed under Kadma Police Station Case No. 45/25, dated May 19, 2025, under Sections 25(1-B)a/26/35 of the Arms Act.
