PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, June 10: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre of IMD has issued a warning for thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and gusty winds across various parts of the state over the next two days.

On June 10, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h are likely to occur at isolated places over the south and central parts of the state.

On June 11, the thunderstorm activity is expected to extend to isolated places across the entire state, with similar wind speeds anticipated.

In addition, the northern limit of the southwest monsoon continues to advance and currently passes through Mumbai, Ahilyanagar, Adilabad, Bhawanipatna, Puri, Sandhead Island, Balurghat, and up to 30°N/85°E, indicating further progress of monsoon conditions.

Synoptic Overview

A key weather feature influencing the current conditions is an upper air cyclonic circulation present over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas of north coastal Odisha and south Gangetic West Bengal, extending between 1.5 and 5.8 Km above mean sea level.

People are advised to avoid open areas during lightning, and secure loose objects that may be affected by gusty winds.
