Narayanpur, June 26: Two female Maoists were gunned down in an ongoing anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, police confirmed on Thursday.

The joint offensive, carried out by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF), was launched following intelligence inputs about the movement of senior cadres from the Maad division in the dense Abhujmaad region.

The encounter erupted late Wednesday in the forests under Kohkameta police station limits. Security forces from Narayanpur and Kondagaon DRG units were actively involved in the operation.

Officials recovered the bodies of the two women Naxalites from the site, along with an INSAS rifle and a .315 bore firearm. The search and combing operation is still in progress.
