Jharkhand Bank Employees Federation to join July 9 all-India strike

Dhanbad, June 30: The Bank Employees Federation, Jharkhand, has announced its support for the nationwide strike called by national trade unions on July 9.

General Secretary ML Singh informed that the decision to participate in the strike was taken during a meeting held in Dhanbad on Sunday, which was presided over by Saket Kumar Sinha.

Singh further stated that bank employees across Jharkhand will also organize rallies and a torchlight procession on July 8, a day before the strike, in response to the call given by national trade unions.

The federation’s participation in the strike is aimed at pressing the following demands:

  • Repeal of the four Labour Codes introduced by the central government
  • Fresh recruitment in banks
  • Implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS)
  • Introduction of a five-day workweek in banks
  • Ban on outsourcing of bank jobs
  • Opposition to the privatization of public sector undertakings
  • Improved customer service in banks
  • Regularization of casual employees in the banking sector
  • Increase in interest rates on savings and deposit schemes

In addition, the federation has decided to hold a statewide dharna on August 14 to push for the regularization of casual employees in banks.
