Sona Devi University signs MoU with NIELIT Ranchi to boost digital literacy

Jamshedpur, July 3: In a significant step towards promoting digital literacy and enhancing skill-based education, the Ghatshila-based Sona Devi University (SDU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Ranchi, today.

The MoU aims to foster collaborative efforts in digital empowerment and skill development under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

The agreement was signed by Dr. Nit Naina, Coordinator of SDU, and Dr. Nitin Kumar Puri, Executive Director of NIELIT Ranchi, in the presence of SDU Chancellor Prabhakar Singh, Assistant Registrar Archana Singh, and other officials from both institutions.

Under this collaboration, both institutions will work together to design and deliver industry-oriented training and certification programs, internships, placements, workshops, and joint research projects in fields such as management, technology, finance, emerging technologies, and digital skills.

Dr. Puri highlighted that NIELIT, an autonomous scientific society under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, is committed to developing high-quality human resources in the fields of Information, Electronics, and Communication Technology (IECT).

The MoU reflects the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages collaborations between academia and industry to build a skilled and innovative workforce.

The partnership will leverage the strengths and capabilities of both institutions to create a knowledge-driven ecosystem that contributes to national growth.

Key Areas of Collaboration:

* Summer internships, student placements, field visits, workshops, and conferences in areas of mutual interest

* Designing domain-specific training and certification programs at national and international levels

* Promoting joint research and consultancy in emerging areas

* Organizing faculty development programs, corporate training modules, and academic exchange initiatives

* Implementing NSQF-aligned credit-based courses at SDU as part of NEP execution

* Exploring joint efforts in higher education quality enhancement, student exchange, and faculty collaboration
