IIT ISM Dhanbad launches short-term course on cybersecurity

Dhanbad, July 7: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad today launched a six-day short-term course on Blockchain and Cybersecurity, aimed at equipping participants with essential knowledge of these rapidly advancing digital technologies.

The program, running from July 7 to July 12, 2025, is being conducted under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP).

The inaugural session was attended by Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director of IIT (ISM); Prof. Mrinalini Pandey, MMTTP Coordinator; Prof. Prabho Partim Roy, Head of the Department (CSE-CD); Prof. Nikhil Tripathi; and senior faculty member Prof. Arup Kumar Pal, who is also serving as the course coordinator.

In his opening address, Prof. Arup Kumar Pal emphasized the growing need for secure digital ecosystems across both public and private sectors.

“The convergence of Blockchain and Cybersecurity offers a powerful framework for protecting sensitive data and critical infrastructure from unauthorized access and cyberattacks,” he said.

The course will feature a blend of expert lectures and hands-on sessions, providing participants with practical training in encryption techniques, cryptographic frameworks, and secure digital infrastructure.

Reflecting strong national interest, the program has registered 111 participants from academic institutions, research organizations, and industry.

It is part of IIT (ISM)’s broader initiative to promote digital readiness and academic excellence, targeting educators, researchers, and professionals looking to build resilient digital systems through Blockchain and Cryptography.
