Jamshedpur, July 12:  A quiet night in Kitadih under Bagbera police station limits turned into a scene of chaos and panic late Friday when unidentified gunmen fired at a young man near the Sai Complex.

The victim, identified as Ashish Kumar Bhagat, a resident of the area, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where he is battling for his life.

The incident took place around 10.30 pm. Locals were jolted by the sound of gunfire and rushed out of their homes to find Ashish lying in a pool of blood. He had been shot in the lower part of his body, resulting in significant blood loss.

Eyewitnesses immediately alerted the police and helped transport the injured youth to the hospital. Responding swiftly, Bagbera police reached the spot, secured the area, and initiated a preliminary investigation.

Key Clues Recovered as Police Launch Investigation

Officers recovered key clues from the scene, including an empty cartridge and a shattered mobile phone screen, which may help in identifying the attackers.

While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, police are exploring all possible angles—including the possibility of an old enmity or personal dispute.

The Bagbera police station in-charge confirmed that no theory is being ruled out, and that a thorough investigation is underway.

Sources from the locality hinted at a history of tension between Ashish and a few local youths, but police have yet to officially confirm any such links.

CCTV Footage Under Review; Security Stepped Up

Investigators are now scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity and analyzing technical evidence to piece together the sequence of events.

Doctors at TMH described Ashish’s condition as critical but stable, with constant medical supervision in place due to the severity of the injuries.

Fear Grows in Once-Peaceful Locality

The violent episode has sparked fear and concern among Kitadih residents, who said that such incidents were rare in what was once considered a calm and safe neighborhood.

Locals expressed growing unease over increasing criminal activity in the area. In response, additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain order and reassure the public.

Police urged residents to come forward with any information that might assist the investigation, especially if they saw anyone fleeing the area around the time of the shooting.

Police have assured that swift action will be taken and that efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice as quickly as possible.
