Ranchi, July 14: Dr Aman Singh, a young intern from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, has been elected as the Central Zone Coordinator of the Indian Medical Association’s Medical Students Network (IMA MSN). The announcement was made by IMA’s National Secretary General, Dr Sarbari Dutta, on Sunday evening.
Dr Singh will oversee academic and organizational activities of medical students across four states—Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Coordinators for the remaining zones were also named: Dr Rohan Arora (North Zone, Haryana), Dr Jeevan Jacob (South Zone, Kerala), Dr Swapnil Bhalodia (West Zone, Gujarat), and Dr Pramath Satapathy (East Zone, Odisha).

First Jharkhand Representative in National Role
This marks the first time a medical student from Jharkhand has been appointed to such a key national position within the IMA MSN. Dr Aman Singh, who also serves as the Jharkhand convener of IMA MSN, has been recognized for his leadership in advocating for the rights and welfare of medical students across India.

His efforts were previously acknowledged during the IMA National Conference Utsav 2024 held on December 27 at HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, where he received a national award along with Dr Raghvendra Kumar (State MSN General Secretary) and a senior resident from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH), Jamshedpur.
Involvement in Statewide Medical Student Network
According to the IMA, Dr Singh was selected for this responsibility due to his leadership and commitment to students’ welfare. He played a key role in establishing the MSN wing in all medical colleges of Jharkhand and was actively involved in supporting junior doctors, notably advocating for justice in the case involving RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata.
“It is a matter of pride to represent the Central Zone in the national body. During my tenure, I will serve as the voice of medical students from these four states and remain committed to resolving their issues,” said Dr Aman Singh.

Dr Singh’s appointment has been widely celebrated by the medical fraternity in Jharkhand. Office bearers and members of the Indian Medical Association, Junior Doctors Association (JDA) RIMS, Medical Students Network (MSN), and Junior Doctors Network (JDN) state chapter extended their congratulations, calling it a proud moment and a major achievement for the state’s medical community.
