Jamshedpur, August 4: Legendary tribal leader Shibu Soren, affectionately known as Dishom Guru, passed away on August 4 at the age of 81.
A founding figure of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Soren was revered for his tireless efforts toward tribal rights, social justice, and the upliftment of marginalized communities.

His demise has cast a pall of grief not just over Jharkhand but across the nation. As a mark of respect, Netaji Subhash University organized a solemn condolence meeting at its central auditorium, where Chancellor Madanmohan Singh, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Prabhat Kumar Pani, and other faculty members and staff paid their heartfelt tributes.

Speaking on the occasion, Chancellor Singh said, “May the departed soul of this great leader rest in peace. We pray for strength for his family during this difficult time. His ideals and lifelong struggles will continue to inspire generations to come.”

In accordance with the Chancellor’s directive, all academic and administrative activities under the Netaji Subhash Group of Education will remain suspended for one day as a mark of mourning.
