Ranchi, August 11: Former Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan, accused in a land scam case, has approached the Supreme Court seeking bail after his petitions were rejected by both the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Court and the Jharkhand High Court.

On August 6, the High Court bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad dismissed his bail plea, following which he challenged the order in the Supreme Court.

The case in which Ranjan has sought bail is related to the sale and purchase of army-occupied land in Bariatu, under the Bargai circle of Ranchi.

Apart from Ranjan, other accused in the case include well-known businessman Vishnu Agrawal, Bargai circle revenue sub-inspector Bhanu Pratap Prasad, alleged fake landowner of the army land Pradeep Bagchi, land dealers Afsar Ali, Imtiaz Khan, Talha Khan, Faiyaz Khan, Mohammad Saddam, Amit Agrawal, and Dilip Ghosh.
Notably, one of the accused, Amit Agrawal, was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court.
