National Anti-Ragging Day week begins at IIT ISM Dhanbad

Dhanbad, August 14: The weeklong National Anti-Ragging Day ceremony commenced at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad with a series of activities at the Penman Auditorium.

The programme, organized on the directive of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is being jointly conducted by the Dean (Students’ Welfare) Department and the IIT ISM Students’ Gymkhana.

The inaugural session featured a short film screening on anti-ragging, a national-level poster-making competition, and a quiz contest. Ayush Tiwari, a second-year B.Tech (Petroleum Engineering) student, delivered the welcome address.

Prof. S.K. Gupta, Dean (Students’ Welfare), emphasised the Supreme Court’s strict guidelines to prevent ragging on campuses, while Prof. Sanjoy Mandal highlighted the importance of continuous anti-ragging awareness initiatives.

Awareness Messages and Patriotic Touch

The short film, portraying the real-life struggles of ragging victims, struck a deep chord with the audience. The event also included a Nasha Mukti awareness talk, a collective pledge-taking session, and the online national poster-making contest.

A lively quiz competition followed, engaging students from various departments. Additionally, a special video on the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was screened, adding a patriotic note to the proceedings.

Ongoing Weeklong Activities

Officials informed that the weeklong ceremony will feature a range of programmes aimed at promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.

These activities will continue to engage students through interactive sessions, creative contests, and awareness drives focused on eliminating ragging in all its forms.
