Mahesh was scheduled to be on the attack squad as well, but for some reason, his family stopped him, it was revealed during his interrogation by the Special Cell’s Counter Intelligence Unit.

In addition, after Lalit Jha, the fifth accused and mastermind, arrived in Kuchaman, Rajasthan, from Delhi, Mahesh assisted Jha in setting fire to his associates’ cell phones.

Senior police officials, including two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and Additional Commissioners of Police, questioned Lalit Jha last night. In the course of the interrogation, he recounted the entire incident to the officials.

As per sources, it was revealed during the interrogation that plans for the attack had been underway for several months. Since an entry pass was required for access to Parliament and was not readily available, Lalit had approached individuals capable of obtaining the pass to facilitate their entry into Parliament.

Lalit, while staying at a hotel in Rajasthan, consistently monitored unfolding events and police activities by staying updated through news channels.

The inquiry also unveiled that the accused placed a special order for two pairs of shoes in Lucknow. They realized that shoes were not subjected to scrutiny in Parliament, making it a convenient method to transport the smoke canister inside the parliamentary premises.

Six teams formed to probe

Sources report that the Delhi Police Special Cell has set up six teams to visit the accused’s locations in Lucknow, Mysore, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Haryana in an effort to gather additional information about the case.

Apart from that, since the Special Cell has the accused in its custody for seven days, the accused will also be taken separately to several sites for cross-verification and evidence identification.

According to sources, on Saturday or Sunday, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police will bring the accused to the Parliament complex in order to recreate the scenario of the security breach that occurred on Wednesday.
