Gariaband, August 18: Four Naxal cadres, carrying a combined reward of ₹19 lakh on their heads, laid down arms before Gariaband Police, marking a major breakthrough in the anti-Naxal campaign.

Raipur Range Inspector General Amresh Mishra hailed the development as a historic achievement for both the district and the state, noting that the four had been active in the region for nearly a decade.

The police also felicitated the surrendered cadres after the ceremony.

According to Mishra, the former rebels revealed that many youths trapped in Naxal organisations are eager to abandon violence and join the mainstream but are often held back against their will.
