Hazaribagh, Aug 23: Top-seeded players continued their fine run in the Jharkhand State Badminton Championship being played at the Indoor Stadium in Hazaribagh. In the girls’ under-19 category, favourites Sara Sharma of Jamshedpur, Ananya Singh, and Yogita Bora of Ranchi stormed into the quarterfinals.

Sara Sharma outplayed Kritika Kumari of Giridih 15-06, 15-03, while Ananya Singh defeated Ashtika Singh of Gumla 15-06, 15-08. Yogita Bora sealed her spot by beating Vaishnavi Singh of Deoghar 15-10, 15-05.

In the men’s singles, Krish Dubey (Jamshedpur), Ankit Gope (Ranchi), Priyanshu Tirkey (West Singhbhum), and Akash Pandit (Giridih) advanced to the last eight.

Akash Pandit beat Ujjwal Paawan (Jamshedpur) 15-08, 15-13, Ankit Gope got past Sachin Gope (Gumla) 15-11, 15-12, while Priyanshu Tirkey defeated Shantanu Kumar (Jamshedpur) 15-09, 15-09.

The boys’ under-19 event also saw strong performances, with Krish Dubey (Jamshedpur), Swapneel Nayak (Hazaribagh), and Yuvraj Kumar (Ranchi) reaching the next round.

Dubey overcame Sagar Banjara (Ranchi) 15-13, 15-08, Nayak beat Sujal Rakshit (Dhanbad) 15-03, 15-08, while Yuvraj Kumar stopped Samvith Ramesh (Ranchi) 15-07, 15-11.
