Ranchi, Aug 26: The Monsoon Session of the Jharkhand Assembly witnessed disruption for the third consecutive day, preventing Question Hour from being conducted.
On Tuesday too, issues inside and outside the House echoed around “vote chor gaddi chhor” (vote thief, vacate the chair), a CBI probe into the Surya Hansda case, Atal Clinics, and the reduction of the Governor’s powers.
When the proceedings began on Wednesday at 11:07 am, Congress Legislature Party leader Pradeep Yadav held up a copy of the Constitution and said, “Babasaheb gave us the right to vote in the Constitution. Today, vote thieves are stealing votes. They want to capture power through the backdoor.”
Following this, ruling party members raised slogans of “vote chor gaddi chhor” and demanded withdrawal of SIR, leading the Opposition to storm into the Well of the House with slogans.

Opposition Demands CBI Probe into Surya Hansda Case
The Opposition protested demanding a CBI inquiry into the Surya Hansda encounter case, raised questions about Atal Clinics, RIMS Two, and the reduction of the Governor’s powers. Amid the uproar, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2 pm.
When the House reconvened at 12:04 pm, Pradeep Yadav again raised the issue of SIR. He said, “The Jharkhand government is a government that safeguards democracy and protects voting rights.”
In response, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi alleged that tribal Khatiyani lands were being snatched and demanded they be restored to their rightful owners.
Govt Defends Its Position
Marandi further said that a CBI probe must be conducted into the Surya Hansda encounter case. “The ruling party is diverting attention by raising the SIR issue. Demography is changing, and there is no concern about it. Soon, no tribal will be able to become an MLA or MP. The government has no concern for tribals,” he added.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radhakrishna Kishore countered, saying that the government was sensitive towards the democratic system. As the uproar continued, the Speaker once again adjourned the House till 2 pm.

Speaker Appeals for Smooth Functioning
Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato repeatedly appealed to both sides to allow the House to function and let Question Hour proceed. Despite his efforts, both the Opposition and ruling party members remained adamant on their demands, leading to another deadlock in the Assembly.
