Daltonganj, December 16: The Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) is to hold 57 examinations in 2024!
The 57 examinations are of the UG regular streams, UG vocational courses, UG in Nursing, Education (BEd and MEd), Law, Dental, Medical, PG mainstream, PG professional like MBA etc.
Exam backlogs
Acting VC NPU Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya said, “Examinations are backlogging here for six to eight months. I have directed the examination department to put in all efforts to wipe out the backlogs to the examinations. Once the backlogs are over, the late running of the sessions can be caught up.”
“We will start holding examinations right from January 2024. By February’s end, we believe our backlogs to the examinations will be over,” added the acting VC.
In-charge Registrar Dr Mritunjay Kumar said the acting VC is too concerned about the fleet of the examinations. “We will make a concerted effort to hold the examinations,” he said.

2024 a leap year
The year 2024 is a leap year with 366 days. But no matter, there are 52 Sundays and 72 holidays in the NPU Daltonganj.
As the number of examinations is 57, which is to be held, it’s like a race against time in 2024.
None of the 57 examinations takes a day or two to be over, but it involves a minimum of seven days to a maximum of 26 or 27 days. UG and PG streams consume more days for the examinations.
Two elections in 2024
Again, the year 2024 will see two elections. The Lok Sabha election is in the first half, and the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha election is in the second half.
Two or three weeks ahead of the polls, the district election officer acquires all three constituent colleges here in Daltonganj to double these colleges as camps for the CPMF (central paramilitary forces) like ITBP, BSF, CRPF, Seema Suraksha Bal, IRB, CISF etc that come here.
The two elections are set to upset the pace for the examinations here in the NPU Daltonganj.
It is because the colleges where examination centres are set up are under acquisition, seizure of public transportation by the administration leaves students and examinees in the lurch, college teachers cum invigilators and non-teaching personnel etc. getting poll training and duties etc all have their impact on the examinations.
Acting VC Dr Shandilya said, “The challenges are too odd for the university. But I and my team are determined to go all out to conduct all the examinations as far as possible.”
