Jamshedpur, Sept 13: Strong resentment prevails among a section of power consumers under JBVNL’s Jamshedpur area board as the post of Certificate Officer has been vacant for the past six months.

Power consumers, especially commercial and industrial consumers, are resentful as the litigations related to payment of power bill or disconnection of power line have been unresolved since March this year due to the absence of a Certificate Officer.

Certificate Officer’s office located at Karandih, where litigants from across Kolhan used to come to get their issues sorted out regularly.

As a result of the situation, several small and medium-scale industrial units have been closed because of the litigation, mostly hit by the power disconnection due to non-payment of power dues.  Had the Certificate Officer been posted here, such issues could have been settled amicably.

Industrial Stability and Reform Organisation (IS&RO), an entrepreneurs’ body which works in the interest of the individual units, has decided to take a delegation to the concerned authorities to ensure posting of Certificate Officer at the earliest.

Chief engineer-cum-general manager, JBVNL, Jamshedpur area board, Ajeet Kumar, said to have written to the Kolhan Commissioner for posting the Certificate Officer.

“Certificate Officer’s posting is made by the Kolhan Commissioner. We have already written to appoint a new Certificate Officer at the Karandih office days after the post lay vacant,” said Kumar while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

The post of Kolhan Commissioner has also been vacant for a long time.

A senior officer in the West Singhbhum administration, on condition of anonymity, said that the last Kolhan Commissioner posted here was Manoj Kumar, adding that no one is in charge as the Kolhan Commissioner as of now.
