Deoghar gets Eastern India’s largest electronics skill hub as Dixon launches Innovation Centre

Deoghar, Sept 18: Dixon Technologies on 16 September unveiled its first Innovation Centre outside its plants at the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) campus in Deoghar, setting the stage for the city to become Eastern India’s largest hub for electronics, skills, and advanced research.

The centre will function as a major skill development platform, providing NIELIT-certified training that prepares local youth for jobs and entrepreneurship in sectors like mobile repair, electronics assembly, and small-scale manufacturing.

A supercomputer from C-DAC is also being installed at the facility to accelerate research in areas such as agriculture and medicine.

In a bold step toward the future of telecom, the centre will host collaborative R&D by C-DOT and Coal India on 6G and 7G technologies, positioning Deoghar alongside India’s leading technology hubs like Bengaluru and Pune.

BSNL is also setting up its own unit at STPI Deoghar, adding to the region’s growing digital ecosystem.

Dixon has announced that new manufacturing units for washing machines and refrigerators will be operational on the campus by March next year. Company Chairman Sunil Vachani said the initiative represents a turning point: “This centre will not just train people but create jobs and manufacturing opportunities.”

Godda MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey, who attended the inauguration, hailed it as a landmark in Deoghar’s journey toward becoming a technology and manufacturing hub. STPI Director General Arvind Kumar further revealed that a second building will soon be added to accommodate the expanding scope of the facility.

The Innovation Centre is expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment, while giving Jharkhand’s youth a launchpad to participate in India’s rapidly growing electronics manufacturing sector.
