Ranchi, Sept 23: Ranchi Sadar Hospital celebrated the fifth anniversary of launching its laparoscopic surgery facility. The occasion was marked by a cake-cutting ceremony led by Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. Prabhat Kumar and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Bimlesh Kumar Singh.
To mark the milestone, the hospital also inaugurated a second daily session of laparoscopic surgeries.
The hospital first introduced laparoscopic surgery on September 22, 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, becoming the first district sadar hospital in Jharkhand to offer the advanced surgical technique.

The service began with the efforts of Dr. Ajit Kumar and has since benefitted hundreds of poor patients through minimally invasive surgeries.

Recognizing the rising number of patients, the hospital has decided to introduce a second session of surgeries to reduce waiting times.
Alongside this, an Evening Operation Theatre (OT) was inaugurated by the Civil Surgeon and Deputy Superintendent.
Dr. Prabhat Kumar said that neurosurgery, orthopaedics, pulmonology, plastic surgery, general surgery, gynaecology, and other procedures will be performed in the evening sessions.
Looking ahead, the Civil Surgeon announced that the hospital plans to soon launch a postgraduate (DNB) program in the surgery department.
Additionally, emergency operation facilities are expected to start from November this year. These initiatives aim to strengthen surgical services and provide better healthcare access to patients.

The event was attended by OT in-charge Dr. Ajit Kumar, Dr. Neeraj, Dr. Vikash Ballav, Dr. Stephen Khes, Dr. Basudha, Dr. Tanmay, cardiologist Dr. Dhananjay, along with nursing in-charge Sister Nelly, Snehlata, Mala Sinha, and other health assistants.
