Jamshedpur, Sept 24: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated places across Jharkhand from September 24 to 27.
Heavy rainfall is also likely over the south-western parts of the state on September 24.
The line of withdrawal of the southwest monsoon currently passes through 32°N/74°E, covering Tarn Taran, Sangrur, Jind, Rewari, Tonk, Mahesana, Porbandar, and 21°N/68°E.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area that had formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal regions of West Bengal and north Odisha was centered over coastal Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha on September 23 morning.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level and is likely to persist for the next 24 -hours before weakening.
Adding to the system, another low-pressure area is expected to develop over the northwest and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around September 25.
Meteorologists warn that it may intensify into a depression over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off the South Odisha–North Andhra Pradesh coasts by September 26.
The system is very likely to make landfall over the same coasts around September 27.
Authorities have advised residents, especially in vulnerable regions, to remain alert to possible heavy showers, waterlogging, and strong winds in the coming days.
