New Delhi, Oct 6: A commotion erupted in the Supreme Court today when a lawyer, identified as Rakesh Kishore, allegedly tried to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai. The incident caused a stir in the courtroom.

The police immediately took the accused lawyer into custody. Reports stated that Justice Gavai remained calm throughout, and court proceedings continued as usual. The CJI remarked that such incidents do not affect him.

According to sources, the court was in the middle of a hearing when the lawyer approached the desk, removed his shoe, and attempted to throw it at the CJI. Security personnel present in the courtroom quickly intervened, apprehended him, and escorted him outside.

Witnesses reported hearing the lawyer exclaim that he would not tolerate disrespect to “Sanatan Dharma”. The lawyer had been registered with the Supreme Court Bar since 2011. Following the incident, security measures in the court premises have been heightened.

One lawyer described the incident as unfortunate, noting that it was linked to comments made by the CJI regarding a statue of Lord Vishnu.
