Dhanbad, October 7: Kansari Mandal, former district president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and ex-president of the Dhanbad Bar Association, passed away on Monday evening at the age of 83.
His health had deteriorated suddenly on October 2, following which he was admitted to Asarfi Hospital, where he breathed his last on October 6.
Political Journey and Contributions
Kansari Mandal entered politics in 1975 and served as the president of Dhanbad district JMM organization twice, first from 1995 to 1999 and then in 2008.

He contested the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat in 1998 on a JMM ticket but lost to Prof. Rita Verma of the BJP.

A close associate of JMM founder Shibu Soren, Mandal remained loyal to the party until his last days. During the 1992 split in JMM, he supported Soren and ensured the success of Soren’s foundation day celebrations on February 4 in Dhanbad.
Prominent Legal Career
Apart from his political career, Kansari Mandal was a senior advocate and highly respected in the legal community.
He served as president of the Dhanbad Bar Association three times, winning elections in 2011, 2012, and his last tenure in 2014, earning admiration for his leadership and popularity among lawyers.

Tributes and Condolences
On Monday, his body was brought to the Dhanbad court, where senior advocates, including Bar Association President Radheyshyam Goswamy, General Secretary Jitendra Kumar, Senior Lawyer Brajendra Prasad Singh, and former president Amrendra Sahay, paid rich tributes.
As news of his passing spread, JMM district president Lakhi Soren, secretary Mannu Alalm, senior leader Debu Mahto, Dumri MLA Jairam Mahto, and other party members visited Asarfi Hospital to offer condolences.
