THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Daltonganj, October 7: Ten decimals of land each were given to 10 families of Mushars under the limits of Pandu block in Palamu very recently.

Palamu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sameera S told this correspondent “Each of the 10 Mushar families has been given 10 decimals of land. It’s their land now. They are the ones who will not be described as any more landless.”

The 10 decimals of land come under Grih Asthal Parcha, said the Additional Collector Kundan Kumar.

The Grih Asthal Parcha is a landed asset now by inheritance which means the family so given Grih Asthal Parcha will go inheriting it without any mutation in name but with a rider that such Grih Asthal Parcha land is not for sale partial or whole and also not for any purchase. The land is inheritable, not transferable even among the community.

These 10 Mushar families each had already with them sanctioning letter of Ambedkar Awaas.

The Ambedkar Awaas which was pegged at 1,20,000 rupees for the plain land and 1,30,000 for the hilly land is said to be @ 2,00,000 rupees each Awaas now.

Background of Displacement

Were these 10 Mushar families a real displaced one or were they a lot of encroachers thrown out of the land encroached by them at village Murumatu under the Pandu police station limits?

On August 30, 2022 these 10 Mushar families were thrown out of the dwelling places by a handful of Muslim families which later faced criminal cases and three members of the Muslim families were arrested on the first day of September 2022.

National media houses presented this case as that of Land Jihad perpetrated by the handful of Muslim families.

The atmosphere here in Palamu was communally vitiated and the BJP left no chance to exploit this issue to the hilt to gain political mileage.

Role of Administration and Political Voices

The Mushars were fed on two things. First they should ask for resettlement at the same land Murumatu from where they were exited, their dwelling places were demolished and they were packed off for Loto village under the Chhaterpur police station limits.

Two, the Mushars were brainwashed not to toe the line of administration which was offering them a couple of welfare measures, big of all land. The role of the BJP in the whole episode was not beyond scrutiny and question.

Who is to be blamed for this inordinate delay when it took three years for the Mushars to get land for themselves?

Administration or the Mushars? It’s the Mushars who allowed themselves to be a pawn in the chess of politics.

It was Radha Krishna Kishore who was the only sane political voice then who had asked the Mushars to accept the offer of the administration without getting swept away from the deluge of fake promises/ assurances of the politicians. Kishore in 2022 was not any MLA. But he knew well how to put the best foot forward.

The Jharkhand Story correspondent spoke to Kishore who is now state’s Finance Minister who said “Palamu administration has done a good job. These 10 Mushar families are now having 10 decimals of land each.”

“Hemant Sarkar is very concerned about such landless and homeless people. Our government is committed to uplift such people,” reiterated the minister.

Reminded that there is a big issue of displacement of thousands of people staring at Saranda where Sanctuary is to be notified to which the minister Kishore said “A group of ministers had visited the location. We are weighing all pros and cons of it.”

“Our government is averse to any displacement of people. We believe in development. We believe in co existence of man and wild life. But we are determined to save our people from getting displaced. We need to have a dispassionate view of the issue,” reminded Kishore.
