Daltonganj, Nov 1: Blood bag suppliers in Daltonganj have been asked to maintain transparency. The quality, supply and integrity of the blood bag have to be uncompromising. Palamu Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar Sriwastwa is very strict about it. ”
“Everyone now speaks about blood. It’s too good. It will help create more and more awareness. However, there must be an element of caution and vigil for the blood bag too. Here I am enforcing it to prevent any malpractice,” said the Civil Surgeon.
Notices Issued to Two Suppliers
Two blood bag suppliers in Daltonganj have been given notices by the Civil Surgeon Dr Anil Kumar Sriwastwa to maintain proper documentation of the blood bags so supplied by them to the blood centre in Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) here.

Speaking to this correspondent the Civil Surgeon said, “We have sent notices to two blood bag suppliers, namely Simmi Medical Agency and Gulmohar Agency, both located in Daltonganj”.

“These blood bag suppliers have been asked not to supply blood bags of the same batch numbers which they have already supplied to the blood centre in MMCH in Daltonganj to any other blood centre in the whole of the Palamu district,” he added.
He repeatedly reminded, “Our supplied blood bags’ batch numbers should not be with any other blood centres in Daltonganj, and if found by our team, then the concerned blood bag supplier will be accountable for it.”
“We got some unconfirmed tip off about some blood bags having 350ML of blood trying to be passed off as one from the licensed blood centre in MMCH”, he said.
“As part of extraordinary caution, we have put this embargo on our two blood bag suppliers,” he informed.
MMCH Blood Centre Licence Renewal Underway
There are 3 blood centres in the Palamu district.
These are Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) blood centre, Shree Narayan Hospital Blood centre (both in Daltonganj)and one other at Bishrampur-based private medical college.
Licence of the MMCH Blood Centre has expired on September 30, 2025.
“We have applied for renewal of licence in the second week of September itself and hence there is not much to worry about”, explained Dr Sriwastwa.
Again, one counsellor has been deputed to the MMCH Blood Centre.
This counsellor Lal Mohan is in fact an anti-retroviral therapy (ART) counsellor in the HIV section.
The Civil Surgeon has issued Lal Mohan’s deputation order on October 29. Mohan has joined the blood centre.

ELISA Testing and Blood Utilization Concerns
ELISA test for HIV-1/2 is mandated. It’s a time-consuming test running into three days or so.
Sources said infants do need blood transfusions of as little as 20 ml and here the blood tested by ELISA is to be transfused, which may result in a large quantity of blood going to waste since blood bag carries 350 ml, including the preservatives.
Screening of blood for diseases like HIV 1/2, Hepatitis B and C, etc must be of quality and flaw-free and frank without any chance of tampering with it.
