Jamshedpur, Nov 7: To commemorate the 150th anniversary of India’s national song “Vande Mataram,” Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, organised a collective rendition of the iconic hymn at the Vivekananda Auditorium on Friday.

All heads of departments, assistant professors, and students joined together to sing the national song in unison.

On the occasion, Registrar Gulab Singh Azad said that Vande Mataram is a heartfelt tribute to Mother India, a song that fills the mind with enthusiasm and strengthens one’s resolve.

He added that the national song instills a deep sense of patriotism among the youth.

Addressing the students, Azad highlighted that Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay envisioned a free, united, and prosperous India through this composition.

He informed the gathering that Vande Mataram was written by Bankim Chandra on Akshay Navami, November 7, 1875, and has since become a timeless symbol of national pride and unity.

The programme was organised under the leadership of the NSS Unit’s Nodal Officer Pattri Mali and Coordinator Shivchandra Jha.
