Ranchi, Nov 10: The Jharkhand unit of the Congress on Monday dispatched around 16 lakh signed forms collected from all 81 Assembly constituencies to the AICC headquarters in Delhi, marking the culmination of its nationwide ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ campaign.

The specially designed vehicle carrying the forms was flagged off by state Congress president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh and party in-charge K Raju at the state headquarters in Ranchi.

The leaders said the drive was launched to ensure electoral transparency and create awareness about alleged voter manipulation across the country.

Raju said nearly 16 lakh voters from Jharkhand took part in the campaign, which formed part of the five-crore signatures gathered nationwide. These forms, he said, would be submitted to the President of India.

As part of the campaign, the Congress placed five key demands before the Election Commission — including a machine-readable voter list with photographs for public scrutiny, release of all addition and deletion lists before polls, setting up a grievance redressal system for wrongful deletions, declaring a clear cut-off date for voter list updates, and taking legal action against those involved in organised voter suppression.

The month-long campaign, which began on September 15, was later extended by 10 days to cover more areas. “Despite the festival season and several challenges, the signature drive received an encouraging response from people across the state,” said Kamlesh, adding that the numbers could have been even higher with more time.
