Jamshedpur, Nov 12: The city’s most-awaited literary event — the 39th Jamshedpur Book Fair — will be held from November 14 to 23 at Rabindra Bhavan in Sakchi.

Organized by The Tagore Society, the annual fair continues to serve as a gift to the people of Jamshedpur, celebrating books, culture, and community beyond barriers of caste, religion, or language.

Announcing the details at a press meet here today, General Secretary Ashis Chowdhury said the fair has become a cherished tradition, reflecting the city’s intellectual and cultural vibrancy. “Books remain the most reliable source of knowledge in an age dominated by digital media. We invite everyone, especially the youth, to reconnect with the joy of reading,” he added.

The inaugural ceremony will take place on November 14 at 6:30 p.m., with Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, as the chief guest, and Amit Kumar Srivastava, Director of Arka Jain University, as the guest of honour.

The 10-day fair will feature 67 stalls showcasing books from leading publishers and distributors from Delhi, Kolkata, Patna, Mumbai, Ranchi, Giridih, Jhargram, and other cities. Titles in Hindi, English, Bengali, Urdu, Santhali, Ho, and Kurmali will be available, highlighting linguistic diversity.

Along with book sales, the fair will include literary discussions, quizzes, and book launches, creating a vibrant space for writers, students, and readers alike.

Chowdhury urged local libraries and corporates to expand their collections through the fair and encouraged visitors to gift books — a growing and heartening tradition.

The press conference was attended by Dr. H. S. Paul, President of The Tagore Society; Sudeep Basu, Assistant General Secretary; Shantanu Chakraborty, Chairman of the Book Fair Committee; and Jaideb Ghosh, In-charge of Tagore School of Arts.

With thousands of visitors expected, the 39th Jamshedpur Book Fair promises to once again transform Rabindra Bhavan into a hub of ideas, imagination, and inspiration — a true festival for every book lover.
