New Delhi, Nov 22: The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) has asked Al-Falah University to explain why it should be allowed to retain its minority institution status, following alleged links between the campus and the recent blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, according to sources.
The notice—sent to the university registrar and Haryana’s Principal Secretary for Education—requires a formal response before a scheduled hearing on December 4.
The move comes after investigators found that both Dr Umar Nabi, who was driving the explosives-laden car that detonated on November 10, and accused Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai were associated with the Faridabad-based university.

The explosion claimed 15 lives and injured many others, prompting intensified scrutiny and enforcement action.
Police teams carried out search operations earlier today in Dhauj village, near the university premises.
Under Article 30(1) of the Constitution, religious and linguistic minorities have the right to establish and manage educational institutions, and NCMEI, a quasi-judicial authority, is tasked with safeguarding these provisions.
The Centre currently recognises Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains as religious minority groups eligible under this framework.
