Ranchi, Nov 24: A hearing was held in the Jharkhand High Court on the contempt petition filed by outgoing Ranchi councillor Roshni Khalkho regarding the conduct of local urban body elections.

During Monday’s proceedings, the Advocate General represented the state government, while advocate Sumit Gadodia presented arguments on behalf of the State Election Commission.

The matter was heard before Justice Ananda Sen of the Jharkhand High Court.

The Advocate General informed the court that all election-related processes have been completed by the government, and copies of the decisions have been submitted to the State Election Commission, which has acknowledged receiving them.

The State Election Commission told the court that it would require eight weeks for preparations and an additional 45 days to complete the election process.

The court was also informed of this through an affidavit, and the Election Commission submitted a sealed report to the bench. After reviewing the sealed report and hearing all parties, the court scheduled the next hearing for March 30, 2025.

Advocate Vinod Singh appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
