IIT ISM Dhanbad signs MoU with Minimac Systems to establish centre for fluid testing

Dhanbad, Dec 2: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Minimac Systems Pvt. Ltd., Pune, to set up a state-of-the-art Centre for Fluid Testing and Analytics on campus. The collaboration is expected to accelerate advancements in fluid diagnostics, lubrication science, and smart maintenance technologies.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by IIT (ISM) Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra; Prof. Parthasarathi Das, Dean (R&D); Prof. Ajit Kumar, Centre Coordinator; and Prof. Niranjan Kumar, Centre Co-coordinator.

Representing Minimac Systems were Managing Director Anshuman Agrawal and Harshit Agrawal, Head of Digital Transformation and Engineering.

Leaders Emphasise Importance of Industry–Academia Partnership

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mishra said the partnership aligns with the institute’s mission to strengthen its innovation ecosystem. “This MoU reinforces our institutional vision of fostering research that contributes meaningfully to national technological growth,” he noted.

He added that the upcoming Centre of Excellence will enhance scientific understanding in fluid engineering while creating new opportunities for collaborative innovation involving students, faculty, and industry experts.

Minimac Systems MD Anshuman Agrawal described IIT (ISM) as a natural partner for applied research, citing the institute’s strong scientific base and industry-oriented academic culture. He emphasised that the initiative will help drive advancements in emerging domains such as oil analytics and predictive maintenance.

First-of-its-kind Facility in Eastern India

Officials highlighted that the planned centre will be the first such facility in Eastern India, demonstrating IIT (ISM)’s long-standing commitment to merging industrial requirements with advanced scientific research.

The centre aims to function as a hub for high-impact applied research, industrial workforce training, and technological development in fluid engineering and smart maintenance systems.

Key activities at the centre will include advanced product validation, prototype development, and analytical studies in hydraulic and lubrication systems.

The collaboration will also enable joint research projects supported by real-time field data from Minimac Systems, enriching academic and industrial integration.
