Jamshedpur, Dec 8: The sixth edition of the Jharkhand National Film Festival 2025 commenced on Monday with a grand and vibrant opening ceremony at the auditorium of Srinath University. The event brought together eminent personalities from the film and art fraternity, making the inauguration a distinguished and memorable occasion.

The Jharkhand National Film Festival will be celebrated from December 8 to 13. Screenings across multiple film categories will take place from December 9 to 12, followed by the closing and Award Night on December 13 at XLRI, Jamshedpur.

Parul Singh, Sub-Divisional Commissioner of Adityapur Municipal Corporation, attended as the chief guest, while Sukhdev Mahato, Vice-Chancellor of Srinath University, graced the ceremony as the co-chief guest.

The programme opened with a formal introduction and welcome, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by the guests followed by a welcome dance performance by the cultural team.

Festival founders Sanjay Satpathy and Raju Mitra, in their address, traced the journey of JNFF, its mission and its contribution to promoting film culture in Jharkhand. The chief guest and other dignitaries were felicitated with bouquets.

A special screening of the acclaimed short film Silk Coffin was held during the stage programme, receiving an overwhelming response from the audience. The creative role of the founders, along with Creative Director Shivangi Singh and Dr. Shalini Prasad, played a key part in shaping the festival’s success.

Guests, participants, volunteers and members of the organising team widely appreciated the smooth and impactful commencement of the festival, marking a promising start to a week dedicated to cinema, creativity and cultural expression.
