Jharkhand News: Jamshedpur conducts special drive to remove stray cattle from roads

 

Jamshedpur, Dec 12: A special drive to capture and relocate stray cattle was conducted across the city on Friday, led by the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC).

Teams comprising municipal workers, the Animal Husbandry Department, and local police launched the operation early in the morning across major routes, including Sakchi, Bistupur, Mango, Kadma, and Sonari.

The rising number of stray cattle has become a major concern for residents, often causing traffic disruptions and increasing the risk of road accidents.

In view of this growing problem, the administration decided to carry out an urgent citywide operation. From 7 a.m., teams equipped with nets and trolleys began capturing cattle roaming on busy roads, and several animals have already been taken into custody.

Officials emphasized that utmost care is being taken to ensure no harm comes to the animals.

Trained personnel are involved in the operation, and the captured cattle are being shifted to temporary shelters for health checks and proper care. They will subsequently be transported to a gaushala located on the outskirts of the city, where their safety and wellbeing will be ensured.

Residents have welcomed the initiative, pointing out that stray cattle frequently cause traffic jams and pose hazards to motorists.

JNAC authorities have also issued a warning to cattle owners that penalties will be imposed if their animals are found roaming on city roads.

The drive is expected to continue throughout the day, with authorities hopeful that it will significantly improve traffic flow and enhance road safety in Jamshedpur.
