New Delhi, Dec 22: In the case of the Parliament security breach, the Patiala House Court in Delhi on Friday extended the accused Lalit Jha’s custodial remand by an additional 14 days.

At the conclusion of the remand period that the same court had earlier this week allowed, he was presented before the competent court by the Delhi Police Special Cell.

Thorough probe required to uncover wider plot: Delhi Police

Public Prosecutor Akhand Pratap Singh, who represented Delhi Police, stated that a thorough investigation was necessary to uncover the wider plot that underpinned this well organized attack.

In order to determine the true reason for the attack and his affiliation with terror groups and any other hostile nation, police also requested custodial remand. Police will also question each suspected person individually. They also plan to confront all the accused individuals with each other during the investigation.

Lalit Jha’s custody was prolonged by Additional Sessions Judge Dr Hardeep Kaur here on Friday until January 5, 2023, after noting the submissions.

The Delhi Police had previously informed the Court that Lalit Jha, among the other accused, had revealed that they had met numerous times and carried out the conspiracy.

During last week’s court appearance, Delhi Police revealed that the accused, Lalit Jha, stated that he and other individuals involved intended to instigate anarchy in the country to force the government to comply with their demands.

Additionally, according to the police, he took the accused people’s phones and destroyed them in order to hide the bigger plot and eliminate any proof. He also said that on the way from Jaipur to Delhi, he threw his phone.

Parliament Security breach case and Lalit Jha’s interrogation

On December 13, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D entered the Lok Sabha chamber, deploying smoke canisters, while Neelam Devi and Anmol Shinde staged protests outside. These four people have been charged with terrorism for the serious security breach.

Senior police officials, including two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and Additional Commissioners of Police, questioned Lalit Jha last week. In the course of the interrogation, he recounted the entire incident to the officials.

As per sources, it was revealed during the interrogation that plans for the attack had been underway for several months. Since an entry pass was required for access to Parliament and was not readily available, Lalit had approached individuals capable of obtaining the pass to facilitate their entry into Parliament.

Lalit, while staying at a hotel in Rajasthan, consistently monitored unfolding events and police activities by staying updated through news channels.

The inquiry also unveiled that the accused placed a special order for two pairs of shoes in Lucknow. They realized that shoes were not subjected to scrutiny in Parliament, making it a convenient method to transport the smoke canister inside the parliamentary premises.
