Jamshedpur, Dec 22: A mega blood donation camp was organised today at the Vivekananda Auditorium of Ghatshila-based Sona Devi University in the sacred memory of Late Sona Devi.

The camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with 103 units of blood collected, making it a notable public service initiative in the region.

The Chancellor of the University, Prabhakar Singh, personally donated blood, inspiring students, staff, and citizens alike.

Faculty members, university officials, employees, and a large number of students actively participated, while many residents from the Ghatshila area also volunteered as donors.

During the programme, Kumari Nikita, Assistant Professor from the Department of Sanskrit, addressed common myths associated with blood donation and encouraged people to donate regularly.

She highlighted that any healthy man or woman can donate blood, which not only saves lives but also improves the donor’s health by boosting immunity and promoting the formation of new blood cells.

Participants were encouraged to pledge regular blood donation as a service to humanity.

The camp was organised under the aegis of the Sona Devi Memorial Educational Foundation Trust, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society and the Jamshedpur Blood Bank.

A systematic process was followed, including registration, haemoglobin testing, and blood pressure checks before donation, ensuring donor safety.

The event was held in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Braj Mohan Pat Pingua and Registrar Prof. Dr. Gulab Singh Azad.

Several eminent personalities from Jamshedpur and surrounding areas attended the programme, boosting the morale of donors and appreciating the university’s social responsibility.
