Jharkhand News: Gangster Prince Khan linked extortion firing uncovered in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Dec 25: Shocking revelations have emerged in the firing incident outside the residence of businessman Hareram Singh in Bhuiyandih under the Sitaramdera police station area.

Prince Khan Led Extortion Motive Behind Attack

Police investigations have revealed that the attack was orchestrated at the behest of notorious Dhanbad-based gangster Prince Khan, while the on-ground execution was planned from jail by Dashrath, a Golmuri resident currently lodged in Ranchi Central Jail.

Confessions and Evidence Recovery

On Wednesday, Sitaramdera police took Dashrath and his three associates—Ravi Mahanand alias Gopla, Raj Singh Kashyap, and Rajesh Giri—on a 72-hour remand from Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi and Ghaghidih Central Jail.

During interrogation, all four confessed to their involvement in the crime. Police said Gopla, Kashyap, and Giri carried out the firing, while Dashrath arranged the weapons and initial funds.

The accused had conducted prior reconnaissance of the businessman’s house using a car and a motorcycle before executing the attack and fleeing the scene.

Ongoing Investigation and Wider Network

Further investigation revealed that Dashrath, in collusion with Prince Khan and his close associate Sujit Sinha, was allegedly plotting extortion from several businessmen in Jamshedpur and Ranchi.

Based on Dashrath’s disclosure, police recovered three pistols and a large cache of ammunition.

Ravi Mahanand was earlier apprehended in the Sidhgora area following an encounter with police, during which he sustained a gunshot injury to his leg.

Police are now probing deeper into the case to trace the vehicles used, recover remaining weapons, and dismantle the supply chain and wider network linked to the extortion racket.

Officials believe the ongoing interrogation may expose more high-profile names.

The incident underscores the growing reach of organised crime in Jharkhand, highlighting how criminal syndicates operate across districts from behind prison walls—posing a serious challenge to law and order as well as the state’s business and investment climate.
