Jamshedpur, Dec 26: Thieves broke into a ration shop located at the Dimna Road entry point under the Mango police station area late Thursday night, making away with cash and goods worth around Rs 30,000.

The incident came to light on Friday morning when the shop owner, Vikas Gupta, arrived to open the store and found the lock broken and items scattered inside.

According to Gupta, he had kept Rs 20,000 in cash at the shop for payment to a wholesaler, which was stolen.

In addition, food grains and other materials worth approximately Rs 10,000 were also missing.

He said the burglars appeared well-prepared, as they specifically targeted the cash counter and valuable items.

On receiving information, Mango police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

Preliminary inquiries included fingerprint examination and questioning of nearby residents. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is also being scanned to identify the culprits.

Police officials stated that efforts are underway to crack the case and arrest those involved at the earliest.

Former BJP leader Vikas Singh also visited the spot after being informed about the incident.

He expressed concern over the frequent thefts and criminal activities reported in the Dimna Road entry area, calling them a growing threat to public safety.
