New Delhi, Dec 26: On the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas on Friday, President Droupadi Murmu honoured 20 children with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar. These children were selected from 18 states and Union Territories across the country.

Among the awardees, Bihar’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a rapidly rising explosive batsman at the international level, was recognised for his outstanding achievements. Over the past year, Vaibhav has amazed cricket fans worldwide with his exceptional batting across all formats, both domestically and internationally, earning him this prestigious award.

Due to the award ceremony, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently in Delhi and is not part of Bihar’s squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Manipur in Ranchi. In the first match of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Arunachal Pradesh, Vaibhav scored 190 runs off 84 balls, including 16 fours and 15 sixes.

The year 2025 has been a golden year for Vaibhav. It began with a century for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, where he scored the fastest century in the league by an Indian, reaching 100 runs off just 35 balls. In seven IPL matches, he scored 252 runs. He has also scored centuries in the Under-19 Asia Cup and in youth One-Day internationals.
This year, two children were awarded the Prime Minister’s National Child Award posthumously: Byoma from Tamil Nadu and Kamlesh Kumar from Bihar. Their parents received the awards on their behalf from President Droupadi Murmu.

Addressing the awardees, President Murmu said that all the children have brought pride to their families, communities, and the nation. She also extended heartfelt congratulations to their families.
Veer Bal Diwas is celebrated on December 26. On this occasion, children who have demonstrated exceptional talent in fields such as bravery, arts and culture, environment, innovation, science and technology, social service, and sports are honoured with the Prime Minister’s National Child Award.
