Jamshedpur, Dec 27: Jamshedpur is set to witness a moment of historic significance on December 29 as President of India Droupadi Murmu will arrive in the Steel City on her first official visit after assuming office.

The President will fly to Jamshedpur by an Indian Army helicopter, touching down at Sonari Airport at around 10:20 am.

She will be received with a ceremonial Guard of Honour on arrival.

From the airport, President Murmu will travel by road to the sacred Dishom Jaherthan at Karandih, where she will offer prayers dressed in traditional tribal attire.

She will also pay floral tributes to Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the legendary creator of the Ol Chiki script, and honour distinguished guests from India and abroad.

Later in the day, the President will attend the convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Adityapur, in the neighbouring Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

In view of the high-profile visit, elite special forces have taken complete control of security arrangements at Karandih Jaherthan and the NIT campus since Friday.

Entry to both venues has been strictly regulated, with access permitted only after prior clearance.

Security agencies are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance, supported by administrative officials and intelligence units.

Authorities have described the arrangements as a comprehensive, multi-layered security cover extending from ground to air.

President Murmu will also address the gathering in the Santhali language, lending deep cultural and emotional resonance to the occasion.

The Karandih programme will mark the grand culmination of the centenary celebrations of the Ol Chiki script.

Extensive decoration and beautification work is underway at the venue to commemorate the milestone.

Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren are expected to arrive in Jamshedpur a day ahead of the event to participate in the celebrations.

Nearly 100 distinguished guests from across the country and abroad are scheduled to attend.

With unprecedented security arrangements and profound cultural significance, President Murmu’s visit is being hailed as a landmark event for Jamshedpur and the tribal heartland of Jharkhand.
