Jamshedpur, Jan 10: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Friday successfully organised the CII Jharkhand MSME Growth Summit in Jamshedpur, focusing on strengthening the state’s micro, small and medium enterprises ecosystem.
The summit was held on the theme “Maximising MSME Outreach for Business Development & Sustainability.”
Industry, Policy and MSMEs on One Platform
The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers and MSME entrepreneurs to deliberate on emerging business opportunities, evolving procurement ecosystems and future growth strategies for the sector.
CII said the rich discussions, expert insights and networking during the summit are expected to lead to concrete partnerships and actionable outcomes, reinforcing Jharkhand’s MSMEs as a key pillar of a resilient industrial economy.

Indian Railways Procurement Explained
Akhil Jain, Senior Divisional Materials Manager, South Eastern Railway, Chakradharpur, gave a detailed overview of Indian Railways’ procurement framework, highlighting its fully digitised system.
He explained the use of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for general items and the Indian Railways E-Procurement System (IREPS) for specialised railway equipment and all tenders, irrespective of value.
MSMEs at a Critical Inflection Point
Abhijit A Nanoti, Chairman, CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council and Managing Director, Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing & Processing Company Pvt Ltd, said India’s MSME sector stands at a critical inflection point.
He stressed that future success would depend on capability building, digital adoption, quality systems and sustainability, enabling MSMEs to integrate with domestic and global supply chains.
Moving from cost-based competition to value-driven partnerships would allow MSMEs to emerge as long-term contributors to India’s growth and global competitiveness, he added.
MSMEs Key to India’s Economy
Rajiv Bansal, Convenor, CII Jharkhand MSME Panel and Head – Supply Chain, Tata Motors Ltd, highlighted the pivotal role of MSMEs in India’s economy, citing their contribution to GDP, exports, manufacturing output and employment.
Focus on Strategic Partnerships
Tapas Sahu, Past Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council and Managing Director, Highco Engineers Pvt Ltd, underlined the need to strengthen production capabilities and supply-chain mechanisms through long-term strategic partnerships.
Strong Participation
The summit concluded on a high note with the participation of over 120 industry delegates, including CEOs and Managing Directors of MSMEs, creating a dynamic platform for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge exchange.
