Dhanbad, January 14: The Railways have cancelled the Dhanbad–Coimbatore Special Weekly trains in both directions for an indefinite period, effective later this month.
According to a notification issued by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr DCM) Md Iqbal, train numbers 03679 and 03680, operating via the Gaya route, have been cancelled until further orders.
- Train No. 03679 (Dhanbad–Coimbatore) stands cancelled from January 17, 2026.
- Train No. 03680 (Coimbatore–Dhanbad) will remain cancelled from January 20, 2026.
Services Suspended Since January 3
Divisional Railway sources said that the movement of the Dhanbad–Coimbatore Special Weekly trains had already been suspended since January 3, but the Railways officially announced the cancellation starting January 17.

Train Schedule Before Cancellation
Before suspension, Train No. 03679 used to depart from Dhanbad every Saturday, while Train No. 03680 returned from Coimbatore to Dhanbad every Tuesday.
Extended Last Year, Now Withdrawn
The Gaya–Coimbatore Special trains (03679/03680) were extended up to Dhanbad in January 2025. However, after one year of operation, the trains have now been cancelled.
Railway officials also confirmed that the Dhanbad–Coimbatore Special trains via the Ranchi route had already been cancelled earlier.
