Davos / Ranchi, January 20: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today outlined the State’s vision for sustainable and inclusive economic growth at a high-level roundtable organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) during the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos.
Focus on Value Addition and Inclusive Development
Speaking at the roundtable titled “Delivering Sustainability at Scale: Pathways for Global Transformation”, the Chief Minister said Jharkhand does not want to remain only an exporter of minerals. He stressed the State’s focus on value addition, sustainable industrialisation and inclusive growth that benefits local communities.

Sustainability Linked to Jobs and Livelihoods
Soren said the responsible use of natural resources must create employment, skill development and long-term prosperity, especially for local and tribal populations. He underlined that sustainability should directly improve livelihoods and social well-being.
Push for Green Industries and Human Capital
The Chief Minister highlighted government efforts to generate jobs through downstream mineral-based industries, renewable energy, green technologies and stronger human capital development, while ensuring environmental and social protection.
Tourism as a Growth Engine
He also pointed to Jharkhand’s strong potential in eco-tourism, nature-based tourism and cultural tourism, calling tourism a key pillar of sustainable development that can create local employment while preserving ecological and cultural heritage.
Call to Global Investors
Reiterating the State’s long-term vision, Soren invited global investors and partners to collaborate with Jharkhand in responsible mining, sustainable manufacturing, renewable energy and tourism infrastructure.
Jharkhand’s participation in the CII-led dialogue reflects its commitment to aligning economic growth with environmental responsibility and inclusive development.
