Davos / Ranchi, January 21: Chief Minister Hemant Soren held discussions with Lulu Group Founder and Managing Director Yusuff Ali on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, focusing on taking Jharkhand’s agriculture and forest-based products to national and global markets.

Global Retail Platform for Jharkhand Produce

During the meeting, Yusuff Ali proposed exploring the sourcing of Jharkhand’s agriculture-based produce and forest products through Lulu Group’s global retail network. The initiative aims to provide direct market access to farmers, women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and forest-dependent communities in the state.

Interest in Multiple Product Categories

The Lulu Group expressed interest in a range of products cultivated and manufactured in Jharkhand that fit into its global value chains. The group also conveyed its willingness to support capacity-building initiatives in the state to strengthen quality standards, aggregation, and supply readiness.

Delegation to Visit Jharkhand

To take the discussions forward, a high-level delegation from the Lulu Group is expected to visit Jharkhand soon to assess production capacity, aggregation systems, and sourcing potential.

Officials said Jharkhand aims to position itself as a primary sourcing partner within Lulu Group’s global supply ecosystem.

Boost for Farmers and SHGs

With Lulu Group operating retail outlets across 21 Indian states and several international markets, the engagement is seen as a significant step towards integrating Jharkhand’s farmers, women-led SHGs, and forest-based producer communities into global value chains, improving incomes and strengthening inclusive growth.
